We take a winding road that eventually cuts through the hilly range springing up out of the Pacific Ocean on the West Coast. There was a rockslide that has cut off part of the Highway, so we’re inland until we get north of the closed highway. Then this winding road takes us through forest, following the shape of the hill, dark and tree covered. Suddenly the trees recede, and the huge blue sky opens overhead. Just a few more turns in the blinding daylight reveals the ocean glistening between green hills.

It’s a strange landscape really: a narrow band of road barely clinging to steep rocks spearing up from the ocean. Rounding each bend offers a new view of the towering rocks peering far out across the ocean.

Our fun mustang is a joy with the top down. The weather is bright. What wonderful fun!

Halfway to San Franciso we take another visit to In n Out Burger

We arrive in San Franciso in the evening, find a park on a step street and make our way to the house.
